Delanie……you need to let those boys know!

My lovely young granddaughter.  It was just the other day when you were born.  My God, how time flies.  On July 7th she will be 14 years old.  Combine the IQ of our entire family and it MIGHT equal hers.  She is so smart.  She is in gifted and talented classes at school.  I carry a dictionary around when she talks about some of her classes.

As I write this post, she is getting ready for a date….yes a DATE.  This boy in her class asked her to go to a movie with him.  Now this is not a bad thing.  His mother will chaparone….sit a couple of rows back in the movie.  The social outing will be good for her.  She has a wonderful set of values.  She won't compromise them for anyone.  I teased her last night as she was watching me put on my make up.  "Want me to put some makeup on your eyes?"  "Oh no" she says…."I won't wear make up".  "Good for you honey, you are beautiful without it."

This morning I was chatting with her Uncle, The Bastard, about this date.  "Damn, she isn't old enough for that is she?"  I explain her age, the chaparone etc.  "Like I said, she isn't old enough!"  "Someone should give the boy a heads up, He will have a lot of really pissed off rednecks if he does anything wrong. We know good body hiding places. Killin will be too good for him if he hurts my niece."  I feel the same…..start plotting.

We trust our girl……..but we know boys!

I just told my niece via chat that she could let the boy hold her hand, and even kiss her, as long as it was on the cheek. Everything else is OFF LIMITS.

You ain’t seen mad until you’ve jacked with the fam!

And so Charles and his Mom come to the door. Me make introductions…My names is Charles…nice firm handshake. I watch them as they get into the car. He opens the door for her…I may just let him live. 😀

sounds like she is well taken care of…..isnt it strange how that happens even when we are as sick as we are!!

And I didn’t even get to meet this boy! Del said it went good. I refrain from asking, “Did you hold hands?” “Did you hug?” And the one I don’t want to know, “Did you kiss?” I imagine the eyes rolling back in the head and so I keep my mouth shut. I wish we all had had the opportunity to be chaperoned on “outtings” – see I don’t say “date”. Young adults need the safety of parents around when they are first experiencing this act of growing up. Better for her to get this exposure instead of forcing her to wait until she is 15 or 16 and sending her off into a possible – “very adult situation” with no knowledge or self confidence of what to do or say. Thanks Grammie for being there to meet Charles and his mother.

I know how to get rid of bodies and evidence, so if anybody messes with her, I volunteer to help and be a character witness!

Oh dear God. You can very much tell that you lot are a bunch of oldies. A chaperone? What was he, 6 foot two with a revolver? And I thought my Mum was bad. Have you seen the movie “Bad Boys 2”? It’s got Will Smith in it. There is a scene in the movie when his friends’ daughter goes out on a date, and they threaten the poor boy with a gun. I can relate. My Mum is a bit like that. But, after reading this post, I will never judge my Mum again. Poor Del. xxx chick
